A new survey has been launched to gain an understanding of the impact of extreme heat on school meals provision.
Launched by the Association for Public Service Excellence (APSE), the survey is for local authority school caterers and school meals providers.
It aims to gain their views on how the current heatwave is affecting school meal operations, including food supplies, storage, menu planning, pupil choices, staffing, costs and any disruption caused by partial or full school closures.
The information collected will help build a clearer picture of the pressures facing school catering teams during periods of extreme heat and identify what support, guidance or contingency planning may be needed.
